Banker. He was primarilly known as one of the founders of the Rothschild banking dynasty. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, he arrived in Manchester, England in 1800. His boldness and skill in transactions, excited the British bankers and merchants. He accumulated vast sums as a result of foreign loans during the Neopoleonic Wars. He was to provide funds to the armies of the Duke of Wellington in Spain and portugal.
