Elizabeth “Betsy” Jane Noble, of Muscatine, passed away in the early morning of August 16, 2016, one day after her 78th Birthday.

To know Betsy, was to know one of a kind; a broken mould. She was tough as nails, but a gentle, kind soul… She would tell you that dying is easy… It’s living that is hard. She might tell you this while feeding you a home cooked meal twice the size you could actually consume, second to none, that filled her home daily with a smell you can still remember if you close your eyes tight enough.

Elizabeth Jane Boynton was born on August 15, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa. The daughter of Eugene W. and Ione (Hoopes) Boynton. She spent her youth riding horses around the island of Muscatine at Northern Gravel Co & on Hoopes farm land. She attended St. Catherine’s private girls school in Davenport, IA.

On July 28, 1956, Betsy married the love of her life, Larry Kyle Noble at First Presbyterian Church in Muscatine, IA. They shared a beautiful life together that included 42 years of marriage & 2 children; Natalie Noble Munday & Brett Eugene Noble. They spent their years together making a home & memories while doing their favorite things together… Traveling, 4 wheeling, boating, fishing, camping, gardening, sightseeing & spending time with family.

Betsy’s pride & joy were her 3 Grandchildren, Elizabeth Weber, Tyler Noble & Ritter Noble. She enjoyed nothing more than their visits together, which often included a trip to Cherry Top for onion rings with a strawberry shake, a stroll past the Muscatine, IA riverfront to see the Mississippi River she spent so many days fishing on & a country road cruise to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Midwest while searching for Deer, Bald Eagles and Bitter Sweet growing wild.

Betsy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a former member of D.A.R. and P.E.O. F.C. Chapter. She was also an advocate for the less fortunate. Even in her sickest moments, it was not uncommon to see her out & about on a cold winters day, to drop off a meal to someone that otherwise, may not have eaten.

She will be missed by her children, Natalie Munday and Brett Noble; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Weber, Tyler and Ritter Noble; sisters, Eugenia Hocking and Barbara Sabbath; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Josephine Noble, Helen Morgan and Everett and Sandra White & numerous nieces and nephews.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents Eugene & Ione, her husband Larry, one son in infancy and a son-in-law, David Munday.

She will also be missed by several other special people who cared for her. Phillip Doeh, Jacob Reeves, Rick, Stephanie & Bobby Munday, Jack Brayden Cannon & Brian & Patty Searcy.

A small Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Greenwood Cemetery after cremation. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Betsy.
