Mrs. Bertha Beckett, 85, 3933 Somerville-Jacksonburg Rd, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Mercy Hospital where she had been a patient for 5 weeks.

Born in Harrison County, Kentucky, a daughter of James and Louise Lawson Tinney, she was educated in the public schools of that community.

She was married to John J. Beckett, October 9, 1898, in Kentucky, and the devoted couple enjoyed more than 57 years of marriage. He preceded her in death September 28, 1956.

A devoted mother and loving wife, Mrs. Beckett dedicated her life to the welfare and happiness of her family. She attended Ross Ave. Church of God.

Fond of gardening and flowers, Mrs. Beckett enjoyed her leisure hours pursuing these hobbies.

She leaves three sons, John Beckett, Hamilton, Charles Beckett, Haysville, Indiana, and Richard Beckett, Vallejo, California; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Elizabeth) Miller and Mrs. Fred (Virginia) Roberts, both of Hamilton, and Mrs. Bertie Ackerman, Jacksonburg, with whom she made her home; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. William Campbell; other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Beckett was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Wilford Beckett and Donald Beckett; five daughters, Mrs. Rose Campbell, Mrs. Lillian Campbell, Dorothy Beckett, Lucy Beckett and Daisy Beckett; four brothers, James Tinney, Elza Tinney, Joseph Tinney and Luther Tinney; and a sister, Mrs. Emmett Corbin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Ross Ave. Church of God with Rev. Howell Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 until 9 p.m. Sunday. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. Monday until time of services.
