DELMAR- David Michael Castle, 80, of Delmar, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his home with his loving wife of 31 years by his side. He was born September 13, 1935 in Barbourville, Kentucky, a son of the late Butler and Elsie (Burgess) Castle.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1963. He attended Parkway Church of God in Salisbury for several years. Dave loved his Lord Jesus Christ and spending time at his favorite fast food spot, McDonald's, sharing his faith and wanting to make sure others knew about Jesus and where they could spend eternity. When he became ill he was unable to spend time at McDonald's, however, his McDonald's friends continued to keep in touch and that meant the world to him. He loved woodworking and building things and even remodeled 3 homes, always wanting Jane by his side. Dave was a skilled HVAC mechanic. For several years he was the owner and operator of Castle Refrigeration in Dover. He also worked at ILC in Dover at Holiday Inn in Dover, Salisbury and Pocomoke, and retired in 1997 from Sanofi, Inc. in Berlin.

He is survived by his wife, Jane (Smith) Castle; his son, Dale Castle; his daughters, Ann Castle and Karen Trexler; his step-son, Paul D. White; grandchildren, Caitlin Castle-Smith, Paula Castle, Gayle Castle, Shannon Castle, Paul D. White, Jr., Peter Trexler, Brian Trexler and Christy Breschak; and great grandchildren, Chloe, Maxx, Mason, Myles and Tyler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Hoffman; a sister, Lorene Baird; and two brothers, Burchel and Bill Castle.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar, followed by a funeral service with military honors at 11:00 a.m. The interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Downings Cemetery in Oak Hall, Virginia.
