Mildred “Milly” Lucille Gowdy, 70, of Liberty Valley Road, Danville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at her home.
Milly was born June 27, 1946, in Chester, a daughter of the late Chester and Lucille Stigerwalt. Milly was a homemaker who was the consummate family woman and animal lover. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles, researching the family’s genealogy, as well as hunting, fishing, and trips to Canada in her younger years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters, as well as her first husband, Charles Hurley, in 1996.
She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Richard Gowdy, of Danville; two sons: Donovan Hurley and wife, Janis, of Danville; as well as Michael Hurley of Berwick; two grandchildren: Mariena Hurley of Catawissa; as well as Natalie Hurley and fiance, Tyler Notestine, of Danville, who are expecting the family’s first great-grandchild, which Milly was thrilled about and enjoyed viewing the sonogram. She is also survived by two brothers: Chester and James; and a sister, Esther.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Danville, with the Rev. Ed Minnich, retired, officiating.
