Larry J. Lischka, age 74, rural Two Rivers resident, died Monday evening, August 15, 2016 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers following a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born in Kewaunee on April 1, 1942, son of the late Frank and Gladys (Schneider) Lischka. He attended grade school in Kewaunee and Two Rivers, and graduated from Washington High School, Two Rivers with the class of 1960. He also served with the U.S. Army National Guard for several years. On August 14, 1965, he married Janice R. Johanek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. The couple enjoyed many years traveling together and Polka dancing, and were members of the Happy Hoppers Club. Janice preceded him in death on July 22, 2016. Larry was employed with Manitowoc Engineering Company for 41 years, retiring in the year 2000. After retirement, he also volunteered at the American Red Cross of Manitowoc. Larry enjoyed hunting; and was very meticulous about his yard and very proud of his trees and lawn. He will be greatly missed by his family. Survivors include his three children: Barbara (Bruce) Tesarik of Tisch Mills, Karen (Russel) Strutz of Two Creeks, and John (Amy) Lischka of Pembine; ten grandchildren: Shawn, Thomas (special friend, Destiny), Nicole, Meghan (fiance, Kody), Bryce, Ryan (special friend, Hannah), Tyler, Cameron, Mason, and Hunter; step grandson, Bradley; and a great grandson, Eastyn. He is further survived by one brother, Dale Lischka of Manitowoc; two sisters, Jill Ritchey, Renton, WA and Kay (Bill) Shenyer, Brewster, WA; one brother-in-law, Allen Johanek of Two Creeks; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, Janice and his parents, Frank and Gladys Lischka, he was also preceded in death by his father & mother-in-law, Julius and Marcella Johanek.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Dennis Drury, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
