He married Pearl Marie "Skip" Randall in September of 1953. Ray and Skip had 4 children and were married 38 years before her passing in November of 1991.
Ray was a farmer his entire life, raising beef cattle and hogs, and harvesting crops. He retired in 1979 after selling the farm.
Ray was the biggest jokester around. He was always known for his loud humor and was a very giving man. Ray would help everyone and anyone in need. He enjoyed trips to Canada where he fished and hunted for moose. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting, gambling, and card playing – especially Blackjack and Euchre.
Ray loved baking pies and breads, and tending to his garden. He would often hand deliver baked goods and vegetables to the whole entire countryside, you could always finding him running the roads. Ray will be dearly missed.
Ray is survived by 3 children, David A. (Amy) Pennington of Bellevue, Darrell M. (Rebecca) Pennington of Galesburg, and Debbie (Earl) Slack of Battle Creek; 3 grandchildren, Doug Jr. (Michelle) Pennington, Jessica (Nick) Metheny, and Wayne Slack; and 2 great-grand children, Max and Willow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Tressa Pennington; wife, Skip Pennington; and son, Douglas Pennington.
A funeral service was at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Codde officiating. Raymond will be buried next to his wife in Bell Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society.
