Magazine Artist's Mother Succumbs
Mrs. Melanie Hughes, 67, mother of George Hughes, prominent cover artist for the Saturday Evening Post, died yesterday morning at her son's home in Arlington, Vt. Mrs. Hughes had been residing in Arlington for the last year, but had spent the greater part of her life in Bayside, L.I. Besides her son she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elsa Vonhunerbein, Bennington, Vt., and a brother, Arthur Hughes, New York. The body was taken to the Haynes and Kane Funeral Home, Bennington, pending funeral arrangements.
