VERNON W. FIELD
EAST ARLINGTON - Vernon Warner Field, a World War I veteran and well-known resident here, died unexpectedly at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington Saturday morning. He had only been a patient at the hospital since Thursday.
Born in East Arlington Dec. 4, 1893, he was the son of Clinton A. and Florence E. (Warner) Field. He had received his education in the Arlington schools. He had been a salesman for various businesses throughout the New England area for many years.
A World War I veteran he entered the service in 1918 and was honorably discharged Jan. 31, 1919. He was a member of Post 13, American Legion, Bennington, and also a member of the Vermont Society of Mayflower Descendants. He belonged to the East Arlington Federated Church.
Survivors are one daughter, Miss Florence P. Field of East Arlington; one aunt and cousins.
The military funeral is arranged for Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the East Arlington Federated Church, East Arlington, with the Rev. John Geer, pastor, officiating.
Friends may call at the Field residence in East Arlington at their convenience.
Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Arlington. Funeral arrangements are being made by Mahar & Son Funeral Home, Bennington.
