ELOISE MAE CLASSEN

1928- 2016

Eloise Mae Classen was born to William Cornelius and Helen Marie (Henderson) Carney on April 23, 1928 in Minden, NE, and departed this life on August 16, 2016 in Plattsmouth, NE having attained the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 24 days.
Eloise was raised and schooled in Minden and Wilcox, but graduated from Campbell, NE, High School where she took normal training, which then allowed her to teach country school. She taught for one and a half years and attended college for one year.
She met her husband Donald Lee Classen and was married on February 19, 1948 in Campbell, NE where they made their home. To this union 4 children were born, David, Mary, Beth, and Alan.
Eloise was a full time mom and homemaker, but when Don was in the service during the Korean Conflict, she worked at J.C. Penny.
The family made their home in Hastings, Ayr, NE and Axtell, NE, where they owned and operated The Orange Coach Steak House and Lounge. They later moved to Millard, Eloise moved to Plattsmouth, NE after Don’s death.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Helen Henderson, her husband, Don Classen, her sister, Rosemary Brush and her brother, Donald Carney.
She is survived by her children David and his wife Mary of Kearney, NE; Mary Nielsen and her husband David of Murray, NE; Beth Classen of Omaha, NE; Alan Classen and his wife Kelly of St. Louis, MO; 6 grandchildren, Chris, Janelle, Lindsay, Matt, Tom, and Sam; 4 great grandchildren Grant, Gavin, Garrett, and Charlie; brother-in-law David Brush of Yakima, WA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 9:30 A.M. at Church of The Holy Spirit with Father Loras Grell officiating, music will be provided by Terry Little.
Inurnment of cremains will take place at Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, NE at 3:00 P.M., Friday afternoon.
Rosary will be recited for Eloise on Thursday evening, 7:30 P.M. at Church of The Holy Spirit.
Memorials may be given in Eloise’s name to Blue Valley Cemetery or for Masses.
