Charles birth date comes from his death record. The death record information was provided by his half-brother, William Millet. The 1900 census says Charles was born in Dec 1859.

Charles was the son of Hannah "Maria" (Garrison) and Joseph Nathaniel Tyler. He had one full brother, Marcus "Daniel" Tyler, four Tyler half-brothers (his father's other sons), one Millett half-brother, a few Owens half-sisters and some Owens step-siblings. Charles never married. He was deaf by the time he was 12, probably from a high fever during childhood illness.

He had been a resident of the county poor farm for seven days when he died of pleurisy with effusion of two months duration, with the contributing factor of having had influenza two months earlier. He died at 5:00 a.m. His body was embalmed, and he was buried on 30 Apr 1923. William Millet was the informant on Charles' death certificate. William was Charles' half-brother. Charles' age was given as 65 y, 9 m, 15 d.

Charles' fraternal grandparents were Sarah Naomi "Sally" (Eastman) and Daniel Tyler. Joseph N. Tyler was the youngest son of his parents.

Joseph N. Tyler and Maria Garrison divorced. Joseph married as his second wife Phebe "Kate" Green on 28 Sep 1868 in Jennings IN. This family moved to Kansas about 1875.

In communication with a relative of William Millet, I was told that William never knew his father. I think the same goes for the two Tyler sons.
