David George “Pops” Baker, age 92, of Waynesboro, Virginia, died, Friday, June 22, 2007 at his residence.

Born May 5, 1915 in Salem, West Virginia he was a son of the late Emory and Ada (Merrett) Baker.Mr. Baker was United States Army Veteran, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict.  He retired from the Federal Aviation Agency as an Electronics Technician.  His favorite hobbies included electronics, golf, hand held radios and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Baker; two sons, Davie Baker and Norris Baker.Surviving relatives include two sons, Stephen Baker and wife, Stella of Waynesboro and Richard Baker and wife, Susan of Orange; grandchildren, Anna Aleshire and partner Jr. Coffey, Pam Humphries and husband, Randy, Lee Baker and wife, Holly, Sherry Baker, Jennifer Baker and Jamie Baker; great grandchildren, Courtney Lucas who always looked up to Pops, Trevor Humphries who was #1 in Pops’ life, Victoria Hamilton was always there when Pops needed her, Ashley Morgan and her partner, Mark whom Pops adored and Tyler Phillips who loved bringing Pops candy; great-great grandchildren, Anastasia Morgan, Anthony Morgan, Katlyn Hamilton and numerous other great-great grandchildren.  Pops loved Anna and Pam more than words can say.  He thought they could accomplish anything.  They were his angels.  He also considered Stella his best friend.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. from the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service with Pastor David Snodgrass officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

On August 16, 2016 a representative from the Reynolds Funeral Services informed me that David Baker had been cremated and there was no record when or where his ashes were buried or whether they had been given to a family member.
