WARD, Geraldine Marie "Miss Judy" 84, lifelong resident of and business owner in the Brooksville area, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 at Brooksville Health Care Center. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Ward and sons, Robert W. Ward and Johnie J. Ward. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Valdora Ward of Brooksville and Tommy and Denise Ward of Graceville, FL; daughters, Anna Ward of Spring Hill and Judy Ward of Brooksville; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Pat Mahon of Weeki Wachee; sister, Martha Henderson of Spring Hill; six grandchildren, Jonathon Ward, Tabatha Rodier, Keith Ward, Amber White, Robert Ward, and Krystal Dady; and five great-grandchildren. Judy was born Nov. 10, 1931 in Pasco County to Carl and Elvia Mahon. Judy and Johnie made their lives in Brooksville and were owners of as many as five businesses during most of the 1970's. After Johnie's passing in Oct. 1978, Judy became sole owner and manager of three of those businesses, Johnie's Bar, Crossroads Bar & Grill, and the Sail Inn. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, beloved sister to her siblings and fondly thought of by the many people whom her life touched in our community. Mom, you will be missed and we hope to honor your legacy in all that we do. Visitation for friends will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel where funeral services will be 11 am, Thurday, Aug. 18. Burial will follow at Brooksville Cemetery.
