MADISON-Patricia Ann Petersen, age 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.

She was born on May 23, 1946, at St. Mary's Hospital and was the first child of Robert and Lorraine Shields of Madison.

Patricia was an accomplished cook and worked as one throughout her life. She served as a community organizer in several roles in the 1980s and 1990s. While working full-time, Patricia also raised two sons on her own, often under difficult circumstances.

She was a lover of animals, especially cats. Patricia was a big fan of television and movies. She was also a sports fan, especially of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

Patricia is survived by sons, Brandon Whisenhunt of Madison, and Jason (Courtney) Petersen of Sun Prairie; two grandchildren, Kolton and Tyler Petersen; brother, Robert (Kris) Shields of Cottage Grove; sisters, Penny Reicks of Elgin, Ill., Merry Sue (Luseni) Mau of Lexington, Ky.; and Dawn Sanders of Janesville; and a number of other relatives and friends.

There will be a graveside service for immediate family members at the Roselawn Memorial Park.
