------------
Williams given name at birth was 'William Vestrus Senior Adams'. He was the son of William Stanley Adams (b. 1872 in Yeovil England) and Amelia Gomersall (b. 1875 in Yorkshire England). Amelias' fathers name was Vestus. Mary Ann Senior was the maiden name of Williams paternal grandmother. For unknown reasons, William was given up by his parents after birth to be raised by his mothers Aunt - Christiana Pickett, and her husband John Healey. After being raised by the Healeys' for nearly 17 years, William came to America with another Healey, his Aunt Amelia, and lived for a time with her and her husband, Henry Healey, who was the brother of John. Amelia Healey and Amelia Gomersall were not related. Amelia Gomersall and her husband William moved to Somerset England a year after William was born, (1895) and had four more children together. A descendent of these children indicates that they were not aware of their older brother William until well after he had left for America.
