The Most Reverend John N. Wurm, Ph.D., S.T.D. was the 7th of 14 children. Monsignor Wurm was baptized at 12 days of age at the All Souls Church in Overland, Missouri. He attended their Catholic school, then the Cathedral Latin School which was followed by studies at the Kenrick Seminary.

Monsignor Wurm's ordination history:

He was ordained on April 3, 1954 by Joseph Ritter, Cardinal Archbishop of St. Louis, for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

He was appointed as a Titular Bishop of Plestia and Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis on June 25, 1976, then ordained Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis on August 17, 1976 by Cardinal John Carberry.

He was installed as the Fifth Bishop of Belleville, St. Clair Co., Illinois on November 4, 1981.

Monsignor Wurm's funeral card was recorded at St. Clair Co., Illinois, he died of cancer.
