Funeral services for Dorothy Huffman “Dot” Elkins, 80 of Blackville, SC will be held eleven a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Ghents Branch Baptist Church with the Reverend Rommie Martin officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m. Wednesday at Folk Funeral Home, Denmark, SC and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Dot’s memory to the Family Life Center at Ghents Branch, 1974 Ghents Branch Baptist Church, Denmark, SC 29042 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090 (www.alz.org). Mrs. Dot passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at her home.
Born in Kosciusko, MS, she was a daughter of the late William Buford Huffman and Odell Green Patterson. Mrs. Dot was a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church and was a homemaker, avid bird watcher and fisherman.
Survivors include her husband, Leighton Corey Elkins; daughters, Debbie E. (Carlton) Owens of Blackville, Beverly J. (Jimmy) Castro of Aiken, Brenda E. (Darrell) Ferraro of Appling, GA, Marian E. (Leonard) Collins of Sylvania, GA, Connie E. (Henry) Moore of Aiken; sister, Nell Huffman King of Walterboro; brother, Walter William (Pam) Huffman of Gilmer, TX; seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild; best friend Marie Huffman Truluck of Mt. Pleasant and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Lynn Elkins.
