Brian Walter Peavey, Sr., age 74, longtime Merrimac resident, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital at Pease Tradeport in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Alberta (Taylor) Peavey.

One of three children of the late Walter and Elsie (Hill) Peavey, he was born in Gray, Maine and received his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Bentley University, graduating with honors. This led to a lifetime career as a self-employed accountant.

He dedicated his life to serving his community in numerous capacities. He was a member of the Merrimac Fire Department for 38 years, retiring as Chief in 2000. He was also a Special Police Officer with the Merrimac Police Department for 45 years. He had previously been a member of the North Windham, ME Fire Department and was a Lieutenant on the Newton, NH Fire Department.

He gave his all throughout his life, and in spite of his numerous commitments, his family was his priority. He rarely missed a ballgame, concert or show that any of his children or grandchildren were involved with.

In addition to his wife, Alberta, of Merrimac, he leaves behind his children, Julia and her husband Larry Fisher of Merrimac and their children, Taylor and Corey Fisher; Brenda and her husband Lenny Jardine of Greenland, NH and their children, Patrick and Mary Jardine; and Brian W.
