Edna was the last of 8 children, 5 of whom lived to adulthood, born to Edgar A. & Evaline {Baldwin} Dodge. She was educated as a school teacher and left her home county of Butler County, Nebraska, to teach school in Omaha for many years. At the age of 29, in 1918, she married Walter C. Mann, a native of Cheyenne, Wyoming who worked as a wholesale grain manager. They would live in Omaha until after World War II, when they moved to Alhambra, Los Angeles County, California for their retirement years. Edna and Walt never had any children.

Note that Edna was born in May 1889, only 1 month after the death of her father Edgar. For whatever reason, in later years, Edna changed her date of birth to December 23, 1894 – making her about 5 years younger. The May 1889 DOB is listed on the 1900 Federal Census. By the time of her marriage in 1918, she is recording her year of birth as 1894 and has changed the actual date to December 23rd. The California Death Index clearly shows the revised DOB + her actual parent’s names as well.
