Dixie Marie (Allen) Thomas of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away on January 1, 2015, at the Carriage House Manor. She was born on June 29, 1923, in Nashville, daughter of Henry Perry & Bess Gary Allen.
Dixie attended school in Tyler, Texas, then in Austin, Texas as the family moved, and graduated from Austin High School. She attended First Baptist Church in Austin where she met Charles Thomas and later they married in Massachusetts where he was stationed in the military.
When Charles' service ended they moved back to Austin where Dixie became a devoted wife and mother.
In 2001 Charles & Dixie moved to Sulphur Springs to be closer to their daughter Jo and son-in-law Tommy Evans.
Dixie was a sweet, caring person who quietly expressed her love to others. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint, traveling, serving and remembering birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions with her family and friends.
One of the things that brought her the most joy was being around children, especially her 4 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, her son Charles Ray Thomas, and her sister Betsy Jane Allen Scott.
