ROCKWELL - Thelma Blackmon Lombard, 80, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.
Born March 3, 1929, in Darlington, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Louie Monroe Blackmon and Sarah Juanita Register Blackmon.
Thelma was a graduate of Timmonsville High School and took her nursing training at Mt. Pisgah Hospital. She was a private duty LPN in Asheville before coming to Rowan County in 1957, where she worked for the VA Hospital before retiring with ten years of service.
Thelma was a member of the Salisbury Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was Clerk of the Church for 40 years, a member of the Missionary of the blind, an Investment Leader and did work in the In Gathering World Wide Program for all denominations. Thelma was a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Leon "Lum" Lombard whom passed away Dec. 4, 1997.
Survivors include sons, Bert Lombard and wife, Darlene, Robert Lombard and wife, Brenda of Rockwell; grandchildren, Johnny Lombard of Rockwell, Renee Ritchie and husband, Alan, Donald Spry and wife, Terri, Mike Lambeth, Trent Lambeth and wife, Teresa of Salisbury; and eight great-grandchildren.
Service: A Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salisbury Seventh-day Adventist Church, conducted by Pastor John Earnhardt.
Visitation: Following service at church.
