Rachel (Bouden) Brown, 92, died August 10, 2016, at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, Kansas. She was born March 7, 1924, in Clay County, KS the daughter of Earle and Beulah (Billings) Bouden.

Rachel was raised in Clay County, KS. Following high school, she built airplanes for the WWII war efforts.

Rachel married Woodrow Ford Brown on November 11, 1945. She worked as a farmer's wife, Boogaarts, and Hutchinson Manufacturing. She raised chickens.

She was a member of the Christian Church, Clay Center, KS; Sunshine Club; 4-H project leader; American Legion Auxiliary, Wakefield, KS; Union Homemakers; and Faith Mission treasurer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Woodrow Brown (April 12, 1998); and a sister.

Survivors include her daughter Erlene (Robert) Slingsby; Clay Center, KS; son, Phillip (Robyn) Brown, Clay Center, KS, five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service at the Clay Center Christian Church, Clay Center, KS. Burial in Uniondale Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas. Visitation at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, KS. Memorials may be made to Clay Center Christian Church or the Clay Center Zoo, in care of the funeral home.
