Charles Joseph McKenna, well known to many as “Chal” or “Charlie”, passed away with his loving wife and family by his side on Monday, August 8, 2016 at his home. He was 85 years old. Charles was the beloved husband of Winifred D. “Winnie” McKenna. They were married for 63 years. Born in Philadelphia on July 8th, 1931. He was the youngest son of the late John L. McKenna and Anna T. Somers.

He graduated from North Catholic High School and began a long career in the steel industry, first with Midvale-Heppenstall where he worked his way to great success in sales. Then, in 1979 he decided to venture out on his own and started McKenna Associates where he continued his career as a Manufacturer’s Representative until his retirement in 2001.

In addition to his main career, Charles was also passionate about real estate. Together he and his wife built their very first home in Southampton brick by brick. He was also successful at buying and selling many properties over the years. He was an avid athlete and coach, having implemented and coached the first track and basketball teams at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Southampton. He also treasured every moment spent at his shore home in Wildwood Crest, NJ.

Above all else, Charles was a family man and will be remembered for the love and devotion he showed to his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. He adored and was adored by his family and friends and he will be dearly missed. In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his children, Winnie

Mitchell, Nancy Davidson and her husband, Dave, Charles J. McKenna, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, Terry Olah, and Michael J. McKenna and his wife, Liza. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Winnie, Danielle, Lindsey, Michael, Kristine, Amberleigh, Ashley, Ryan, Sean, Taylor and Katelyn; his great-grandchildren, Winnie, Haleigh, Tommy, Corrina, Casey, Autumn, Daniella, and Emilia; his brother, Rev. Joseph McKenna, and his brother-in-law, Frank Hauser.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Charles’ family on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954. His Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966. His interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne.
