She was the May Queen her senior year at Juniata. Upon graduation, she taught home economics until starting a family. Although she was primarily a homemaker, she became her husband's "Right-Hand Man" at their Oldsmobile dealership, Frye Motor Co., in Delmont. Martha was an active member of Delmont Presbyterian Church, where she taught sixth-grade Sunday school for many years. She was instrumental in starting the Delmont Elementary School lunch program, taught floral arranging, volunteered at Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children and was involved in numerous other community/volunteer organizations.

After moving to State College in 2004, she continued her community involvement and became active in the State College Presbyterian Church as a visiting deacon. Martha loved people, and anyone who knew her will remember her kindness and her smile.
