Randall Gene Nelson was born at 6:38 pm on January 1, 1957 in Garrison, ND to Raymond “Dempsey” and Rebecca (Handy) Nelson. He was the youngest of five children.
Randy attended elementary school in Coleharbor and then Underwood High School, graduating in 1975. He carried on the family farm (Century Farm), which he was immensely proud of. He believed in hard work and never giving up, values he held onto his entire life.
Whether it was spending time in the shop, riding in the combine for hours on end, checking fields, watching movies in the basement (complete with popcorn), going for a ride on the motorcycle or just hanging out on the deck, Randy was happy with life.
He was known for his mischievous smile and twinkle in his eyes. You always knew you were in for something good when you saw his smirk. He had the greatest sense of humor. He was also a tough guy with a gruff personality, but he would always help you out in a second.
Randy is survived by his 3 daughters, Emily (Nathan) Nelson, Crookston, MN, Laura (Mike Hanson), Nelson, Fargo, ND, and Becca (Harley Klemick) Nelson, Fargo, ND; 3 grandchildren, Kaylee and Easton Nelson, and soon to be granddaughter due August 28, 2016; siblings, Debbie (Roger) Levos, Naples, FL, Loel (Alma) Nelson, Bismarck, ND, Monte (Donna) Nelson, Warrensberg, MS, Terry (Gislea) Nelson, Germany; his best buddy, dog Sam; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rebecca Nelson.
