Mr. Ronald Keith Wheeler passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at his residence in Harper, TX. He was born on November 13, 1932 in Joplin, MO to Sammy Pearl Womble and Ernest Edward Wheeler. When he was 4 years old, he lived with his grandmother in Arkansas, later moving to Nevada with his Father.

In 1949, he joined the Navy and was sent to Houston, TX as a recruiter. He served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War as a hospital corpsman and received numerous medals and accommodations. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he worked in the Texas Prison System for a number of years. Then he was an investigator for the Attorney General in Florida before retiring to South Texas. In 1999 he met and married his wife, Glenda Ward and moved to the beautiful hill country.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother and a son, Ron, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Wheeler of Harper, TX; a daughter, Mary and her husband, Dave Truscheck of California; step sons, Terry Sanders and his wife, Kelly of Cedar Park, TX and Roy Sanders and his wife, Lisa of Harper, TX; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Wheeler will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville with Pastor Scott Hoffman of St. James Lutheran Church in Harper, officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
