Rebecca Ellen "Graves" Snow wife of John J. Snow of Indian Creek Township, Monroe Co. Indiana passed away November 17, 1938 at 10:50 A. M. at the age of 69 years, 9 months & 23 days.
She was born January 24, 1869 the daughter of Andrew & Polly Ann "Bowen" Graves of Monroe Co. Indiana
She joined the Baptist Church at Buena Vista when she was a young girl and has been a true lover of Christ and his teachings her entire Life. She has followed the teaching of the Golden Rule unfaltering. She has always been a true and faithful loving wife and mother. Her greatest pleasure was in sacrificing and working for the pleasure of her husband & children and dear relatives & friends. Even to the last, she was uncomplaining and even then regretted to have her loved ones wait upon her.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband to whom she was united in marriage January 4, 1888 and their six children; Emmet, Jewett, Mrs. Ivan "Hattie" Fowler, Burgess, Fross and Elmer. Also eleven grand-children, one sister Mrs. Henry Floyd, a sister-in-law Mrs. William B. Graves and a host of other relatives & friends.
In the death of Mother Snow, we have lost a dear Wife, Mother, Sister & Friend. Yet our loss is her gain, as it pleased God in his infinite wisdom to remove her from our midst. We bow in humble submission to his divine will knowing he is too wise to err and too just to do no wrong.

Newspaper article from Jan. 2, 1938

"Mr. and Mrs. John J. Snow were pleasantly surprised at their home in Indian Creek Township, Sunday January 2nd, in honor of their Golden Wedding Anniversary which they were to celebrate January 4, 1938. A large cake, appropriately decorated to suit the occasion, served as the center piece at the dinner table. A complete full-course dinner was furnished and served to a large number of friends and relatives. The afternoon was spent talking over old times and listening to music furnished by a string quartet composed of Otis C Moore , Aldyce Jackson , Lester Moore and Burgess Snow. Mr. Jackson and Mrs. Snow sang several duets together. Later an interesting talk was made by Elder Chastain ."

I grew up in her house and although she died the year I was born I always felt her blessing there.

A man walked up to me when I was still very young and said to me that I was named after a wonderful lady. I will always remember that. Becky
