Graduate of University of California (Berkeley), Class of 1921. Star halfback of the 1920 football "wonder team". Ran track and has the " distinction of being one of the greatest distance men ever trained at California". An All Time Letterman. Competed in the 1920 summer Olympic games in Antwerp, Belgium in the 800 meters, finishing 6th.

He was married to Evelyn Hyde Sanderson, December 10, 1921, Berkeley, Alameda County, California. They had two daughters: Jeanne Meredith Sprott and Barbara Blyth Sprott. Albert and Evelyn divorced between the 1930 and 1940 census. Albert did not remarry. Evelyn married second John Elkin Dinwiddie, February 8, 1955.
