She was the daughter of Joseph Coodey, a half-blood Cherokee Indian, and Jane Ross, a sister of Chief John Ross. She was the sister of William Shorey Coodey. She married Gen. Daniel Henry Rucker at her parent's home at Clark's Springs east of Fort Gibson on Feb. 20, 1839. Together they had two sons who died at an early age, a son named Ross and a daughter named Louise. An old cemetery report states "A headstone that been placed in recent years on lot no 2018, I have no record to substantiate, but I can see marks of the possibility of a vault having at one time been placed here and for some reason unknown to me, having been removed and this stone placed on its stead. This stone stands at the head of the grave of Flora, the wife of Lieutenant D. H. Rucker. The inscription thereon shows that she died June 26, 1845. I have been told that Flora married Lieutanant Rucker in 1845 and that she died in 1849. Thus, you will notice a discrepancy in the date shown on this headstone and that told me by parties who seemingly knew otherwise from seeing the inscription on the slab of the old vault." (from L.W. Wilson in a report on U.S. National Cemeteries)

Mother of Ross, Louisa and Henry
