James Allen Porter, 81, of NE Main Street, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Louia and Bernice Durham Porter.
Mr. Porter was a retired Law Enforcement Officer with the SC State Transport Police. He also worked in California for La Mirada Construction, Ryobi in Pickens and taught at Tri-County Technical College. He was a member of the Bates Masonic Lodge # 189 A.F.M., Fraternal Order of Police, Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth and was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of the home, Mary Jo Hodges Porter; children, Terry Porter of Pendleton, Ricky Porter, David Porter (Jolene), Tammy DeFord and Debbie Aeillo (Fred) all of Port Orchard, WA; a daughter-in-law, Lee Porter of Easley; step children, Kevin Brown (Brenda), Joel Brown (Terri) all of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Ruselle Davis (Jared) of Ninety-Six, SC; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Masters of Sunset; and brothers, Benny Porter of Huntersville, NC and David Porter of Liberty.
A Masonic memorial service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bates Masonic Lodge #189 A.F.M., P.O. Box 1125 Easley, SC 29641.
The family will be at the home.
