Louie J. Laprath was born on May 26, 1904 in the same sod house as his brother Hans Thomas. He enjoyed wrestling and hunting and fishing. He was a hard worker and by the age of 12 was doing the work of a grown man. On March 26, 1928 he married Mary Zvonicek. They lived and farmed south of Dallas, SD and except for a brief year in the 30s when they moved their cattle to Batesland, SD., Louie stayed in the Dallas-Gregory area for his entire life. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbor and shared what he had with others, being in every sense a "good neighbor". Louie died at the age of 84. Buried IOOF cemetery in Gregory, SD
