April Styburski was a State Trooper in Illinois, assigned to the District # 2 Elgin Branch. She served 4 years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 27. Trooper Styburski was investigating a property accident near Pingree Grove on HWY # 20, east of Elgin. While investigating, she heard the sound of another accident nearby. She turned and ran towards the second accident, she slipped on some icy pavement, landing on her back. The fall caused her to inhale some gastric acid into her lungs which caused her organs to shut down. She was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. She was survived by her husband and son. On March 15th, 1991, the District # 2 Training Room was rededicated in memory of Trooper Styburski.
