Jordan Dickerson, 6, Bronson, was killed Sunday when the car she was riding in collided with a pickup truck north of Bronson. The drivers of the two vehicles also were injured.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, David G. Ranes, 49, Mapleton, was westbound on New Hampshire Road when his pickup collided with a northbound car driven by Hazel M. Dickerson, 74, Bronson. Hazel Dickerson was Jordan's grandmother. The car was northbound on 5000 Street.

The collision occurred at an unmarked intersection.

Ranes was flown to St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. Hazel Dickerson was taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott.

All three were wearing seat belts, KHP reports said.

Jordan Dickerson was born April 1, 1998, in Chanute, to Joe and Paula Nance Dickerson.

She and her family made their home northeast of Bronson. She was a first-grader at Marmaton Valley Elementary School and studied ballet, tap and jazz at South Street Dance Company in Iola; was in the Daisy Girl Scouts of Moran; participated in the T-ball program at Moran; and attended Bronson United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her parents and a brother, Tristan, all of the home; grandparents Gene and Maxine Dickerson, Bronson, and Paul and Maralyn Nance, Iola; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Moran United Methodist Church, the Rev. Michael L. McKee officiating. Burial will be at Moran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Waugh-Yokum Memorial Chapels in Iola.

Memorials are suggested to the Jordan Dickerson Memorial Fund, and may be left at the funeral home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Three crisis counselors were at the school this morning to visit with Dickerson's classmates.
