Mr. Jordan was born in Washington, D.C. He received his doctorate in linguistics and philosophy at Howard University and received his master's in linguistics with a concentration in the Russian language at Georgetown University. He received his bachelor's degree in linguistics with an emphasis in Spanish from Howard.
Survivors include two sisters, Joanne L. Jordan of Washington, D.C. and J. Cheryl Avery-Hargrove of Virginia Beach; and two brothers, James M. Jordan of Rockville, Md. and Lloyd L. Jordan of Silver Spring, Md.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rock Church by the Rev. John Gimenez. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family at 10 a.m. Saturday at the residence for the funeral procession. Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
