"William Peter Ebenezer Jim Brown Taylor" was the "handle" his mom hung on him when he was born. She was so thankful to the midwife Mrs. Brown for saving both mother and baby of this "later in life" pregnancy that she named the infant after each of Mrs. Brown's sons.

As a child, he was known as "Willie". When he got old enough, he legally changed his name to Willie Brown Taylor. In later years he went by William B. on paper, and "Bill" to his friends.

William Brown Taylor was the youngest child of John Thomas Taylor and Hannah Riner. On November 22, 1905, Will married Lula Bell Key in Yates Center, Woodson County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Walter John Key and Clara Belle Landes.
