Mary Jane Watson Triplett, 79, passed away on August 13, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Marvin Triplett and her parents, Faye Houck Watson and Poovey Watson.

Mary Jane was born and raised in Lenoir. She was a 1955 graduate of Gamewell High School. She worked as a seamstress and a sewing supervisor for 13 years at Buster Brown in Morganton. From 1975 to 1983 she and her husband Marvin owned and operated Watson's Market, a local grocery started by Mary Jane's father. Following that, Mary Jane was a cafeteria worker at Gamewell Elementary and at West Caldwell High School for 20 years.

Mary Jane was a lifelong member of Grandview Park Baptist Church. She was active in the Women's Sunday School Class and the WMU. Mary Jane was also a 10 year volunteer at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

Mary Jane enjoyed baking and sharing her sweets with others. She enjoyed traveling, reading, shopping and spending time with friends and family.

The description of Mary Jane in her senior year book was as true for her entire life as it was in 1955:
"A very reserved girl indeed, never grumbles or complains, enjoys all of her many friends, a little on the sentimental side, modest, knows her mind but follows her heart, likes grilled hotdogs and sweet music, faithful church-goer, a respected friend."

Mary Jane was a loving mother to her two daughters and their husbands, Tracey Carriker and husband Mike of Lenoir; Melony Hughes and her husband Mark of Greensboro. She is also survived by her devoted sister Betty Johnson of Lenoir; two uncles, Willie Houck and Robert Houck both of Lenoir; one aunt, Ethel Morris of Morganton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Melissa Carlton, Sonya Triplett and the entire staff at Westpointe Medical Center; Sarah Eckard, Christy Pearson, Makayla Farthing and all the caregivers from Caregivers by Design; Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and compassionate care; thanks to Dr. Brian Czito and Dr. Richard Riedel of Duke Cancer Center and Dr. Richard Orlowski and the staff of Carolina Oncology Specialists for their expert care and guidance.

Receiving will be held Monday, August 15 from 5:30-7pm at Evans Funeral Service, Lenoir. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 10:00am at Evans Funeral Service with burial following at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The Rev. Raymond Spann will officiate.

Pallbearers are nephews Barry Waters and Terry Waters; great nephews Devin Waters and Logan Waters; and family friends Ronnie Clark, Kelsey Warfle, Marty Franklin and Jake Wheeler.
