WARWICK — Bruce Carr, 58, of Athol Road, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Athol Hospital after being stricken ill while working. Bruce was born on December 7, 1957, Pearl Harbor Day, at Athol Memorial Hospital to James and Nancy Carr, little did he know he had 5 siblings waiting for him. In his younger years he played Little League baseball. He was a member of 4-H, showing his cows and rabbits at the Franklin County Fair. He graduated from Mahar Regional in 1976. While at Mahar he played some football and was a member of the Mahar Fish and Game Club. His true passion was for the outdoors where he loved hunting and fishing. After graduating he became involved with carpentry. He worked several years with his brother, Jimmy and later went out on his own. He became a very meticulous carpenter. He has worked for many families in the area. Bruce helped his brothers build their homes and built his own as well.

He leaves behind his 2 daughters, Abigail and Lena of Northfield. His mother Nancy, sisters Linda Petruski (David), Carol Robichaud (Barry), Debra Carlson (Dexter), brothers James Jr. and David. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and a newborn grand niece and nephew. He also leaves his former wife Paula Whitaker. He was predeceased by his father, James Sr. in 2009.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange.
Funeral will be Thursday, August 18 at 10 a.m. at Witty's Funeral Home in Orange with Rev. Judy Jones of the Orange United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce's memory to the Mahar Fish and Game Club, c/o Ralph C. Mahar Regional School, P.O. Box 680, Orange, MA 01364.

WARWICK — Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange for Bruce Carr, 58, of Athol Road, who died unexpectedly on Aug. 11, at Athol Hospital after being stricken ill earlier while working.
Rev. Judy Jones of the Orange United Methodist Church officiated.
Interment was in South Cemetery, Orange, and the bearers were Aaron Carr, Chris Carlson, Nate Carlson, Andrew Petruski, Joshua Carr and Matt Robichaud.
Following the committal service, a reception was held at the Athol American Legion on Exchange Street, Athol.
Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, was honored with directing the arrangements.
