Rev. Charles W. "Popeye" Harness age 81 of Clinton was born on August 15th, 1934. After a hard fight with cancer he met his Lord and Savior surrounded by family on August 13, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Ruby Harness; along with his mother and father in law Gid and Mattie Golden. Charles is survived by the jewel of his life, Barbara Harness, Children: Teresa (Greg) Davis, and Wesley (Ginger) Harness. Grandchildren: Joshua Davis, Haylea (Brandon) Bates, Alyssa (Kerry) Grimes, Tanner (Jordan) Harness, Sydney, Maggie, Jonas, and Sami Harness. Great Grand children: Braxton, Bentlee, Hudson Blue, Bennett, and Briar. Devoted sister Tootsie (Rex) Devoe. Also his much loved extended and church family.

Charles was a devoted man of God and the former pastor of Pine Hill, Cherry Bottom, Deep Springs, and Hillvale Baptist Church. He was currently the beloved pastor of Island Ford Baptist. He had retired from BellSouth and later enjoyed working at Holley Gamble Funeral Home for 5 years. He was known for his wit and kind-hearted nature that always put a smile on your face.

The family will receive friends on Monday August 15th, 2016 beginning at 5:00pm at Holley Gamble, Lake City. Funeral services to be held at Island Ford Baptist Church on Tuesday August 16th at 11:00am with the Rev. Fred Long, Rev. Allen Giles, Rev. Randy Norton and Rev. Mike Trentham officiating. Rev. Charles Harness's interment will follow at the Hillvale Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Island Ford Building Fund in C/O Rex Devoe 154 Shelby Street Rocky Top, TN 37769. Special thanks to Amedysis Hospice for all their loving care.
