Max A. Sharp, age, 62, died at 2:05 P.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana, from injuries sustained in a fall. Mr. Sharp was a graduate of Edgerton High School and received his Bachelor's degree from Ohio University, Scripps School of Journalism, majoring in journalism and news writing. He then received his Master's degree in journalism from Ball Sate University and did post graduate work on his Doctorate degree at Southern Illinois University. He served as a professional print reporter in Indiana and Maine and was news director at WEIU-Channel 51 in Charleston, Illinois. He had many years of experience in developing and teaching journalism, media and English composition classes at many colleges, including the University of St. Francis, Manchester College, Defiance College, Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois, Morningside College and IPFW in Fort Wayne. He received E.S.L. certification in 2004 and taught E.S.L classes in Saigon, Republic of Vietnam and in Tai`an, Mainland China. During the 2008 school year he was a volunteer instructor of Korean students for Literacy Alliance, Inc. and in recent years was a published poet. Mr. Sharp was veteran of the United States Navy and served on the gun boat USS Crockett during the Vietnam war. He was a member of the First Wayne Street Methodist Church in Fort Wayne.

He is survived by two sisters, Becky (Mark) Cape, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Connie (Tom) Clark, of Woodburn, Indiana, four nieces and nephews and his beloved girlfriend, Elaine Dobbs, of Fort Wayne.
Services celebrating the life of Max A. Sharp will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. in the First Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne with Pastor Gregory Enstrom officiating. Grave side services and interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio, at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 6, 2010, with grave side military rites.
