Norma Ann Belcher was born April 8, 1941 in Portales to the home of Dovie (Knox) and Hunter Hays, Jr., and died Aug. 11, 2016 in Amarillo, TX. Mrs. Belcher grew up in Dora, and graduated from Dora High School in 1959. She attended Eastern New Mexico University for a year before marrying Nathan Belcher on Sept. 4, 1960 in Dora. She later went back to school and completed her degree in Education. In the mid 1960's, she taught for a year in Three Way, TX before starting her teaching position in the Dora Schools where she taught for 26 years. During that time she taught English, Accounting, Bookkeeping, Shorthand, Accounting, Typing and Keyboarding, as well as acting as a class sponsor and coaching Girl's Basketball. After her retirement in 1992, she assumed the duties as Secretary to the Stock Horse Of Texas (SHOT) Association, which she fulfilled until her death. For a number of years she was also an AVON representative.
Mrs. Belcher enjoyed reading, as well as going to Ruidoso, and attending the horse races. For many years she was a faithful member of the Dora Church of Christ.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Stacie Belcher of Ruidoso Downs, NM and a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Matt Lindsey of Dickens, TX; two grandchildren, Hunter and Bradly Belcher; a sister, Carolyn Crill of San Angelo, TX; and numerous other family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Zinn Lindsey, and by her husband, Nathan Belcher, who died Aug. 23, 2009.
