HELTONVILLE - Oneta A. (Todd) Smith, 85, Heltonville, died Wednesday evening at White River Lodge. She was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Lawrence County, to Logan and Izola (Hawkins) Todd. On Dec. 27, 1949, she married Gerald E. Smith. In her working days, she worked at Hospitality House and was a homemaker.
She is survived by sons, Dwight (Mary Beth) Smith, Wendell Dean (Gina) Smith and Tony M. (Dorene) Smith, all of Heltonville; daughter-in-law, Anita Smith Todd of Heltonville; brothers, [twin] Otis (JoAnn) Todd of Nashville, Wayne (Cheryl) Todd of Ellettsville, and Elmer (Sue) Todd and Alferd (Phylis) Todd of Springville; sister, Sharon Arthur of Sanders; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Todd of Heltonville; grandchildren, Amy Luene Brink and Holly (Mathew) Powell, both of Columbus, Anna (Samuel) Shepard of Ohio, Theresa (Toby) Moore, Tanya (Josh) Wagner, Laura Skeen and David (Anna) Rife, all of Bedford, and Recina (Brockie) Smallwood, Denise Gratzer, Sharron (Jason) Henson, Jamie (Brady) Stogdill, Jeff Rife, Sara Smith and Logan Smith (the baby boy that she always made apple pies for), all of Heltonville, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Smith; sons, Richard and Roger Smith; brothers, Dean, Hanford, Oval, Gerald and Marion Todd; and sisters, Kay Todd, Fern Axsom, Genieva Kinser and Irene Smiley.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from noon until service time at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Jones Funeral Home in Heltonville with Bro. Perry East officiating. Burial will follow at Meadows Church of God Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Pleasant Run Park in lieu of flowers.
