William Henry Bagwell Sr was born on September 2, 1862 in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, the son of William Bagwell (1835–1878) and Martha E A (Blackstock) Bagwell (1841–1908).
He was married about 1887 to Jippa Jane Wingo (1868-1944), and she was the daughter of Calvin Hudson Wingo (1837–1909) and his wife Sarah A (Wilson) Wingo (ca 1837– ).
A grocer living at 2301 Buchanan Street in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, William was 74 years old and married when he died on March 7, 1937 at home of a pulmonary hemorrhage caused by TB. Burial was the next day in Spring Hill Cemetery.
