CLAY G. "PAPAW" SIMMONS age 74 was born in Girard, Texas on October 28, 1935, and passed away on August 29, 2010. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Clayton G. Simmons, Sr. and Geneva Heath Simmons.He is survived by his wife, June Critendon Simmons; son, James C. Simmons and wife, Patty Simmons; Daughter, Julene Garcia, and husband Mitchell Garcia; Grandchildren, Jason Garcia, Tiffany Garcia; Great granddaughter, Karlee Heneger Garcia; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barker and Lucille Coburn; brother-in-law, J.W. "Skip" Critendon and wife Denise; brother-in-law, W.V. Blevins; and many nephews, nieces, and friends.He was a member of Crestmont Baptist Church, Houston, and Southmore Baptist Church, Pasadena. He served in the U.S. Army in the early l950's.He will be missed by his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter what was needed, to not only family and friends, but to strangers as well. He was happiest when working in his wood work shop.The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 between the hours of 6:30 P.M. and 8:30 P.M. at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. in The Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Grand View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Rose 12700 N.
