Mary was a member of the first female basketball team at Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville. She was a Vollette and on the Flag Drill Team at the University of Tenn. She played violin and duetted, with her sister Katherine on the piano, at several venues around Knoxville in the forties. Mary was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and helped her father start the family business, Clancy Optical Co. She was a longstanding member of Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Church and belonged to St. Mark's Guild there. Mary was a former president of the Tennessee Rose Society, West Hills Beautification Council as well as several Garden Clubs.
She and her husband served the Fish Hospitality Pantry for many years. They enjoyed traveling, seeing the sights, visiting family and playing golf. She loved going everywhere her family did and was even given the nickname "Gogo" by one of her great grandkids because she was always on the go. Her favorite thing was to see smiling babies. To the end, she still had a smile for everyone. Even the nurses and aides at the rehab facility where she was, would come by the room just to see her smile and hear her say "thank you honey".
Preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Clancy Sr and Ilene McDaniel Clancy, husband, William Kerley, sisters Katherine Murphy and Elizabeth Kidd, son-in-law Stephen Brown, daughter-in-law Jaqueline Kerley. Survived by children Christine Chasteen, Wm Michael Kerley (Patricia), Vicki Brown, Robert Kerley (Susan); grandchildren Ashley Smith (Tim), Shane Brown (Chelsea), Courtney Brown, Patrick Kerley (Alice), Caroline Whitehead (Blain), Kendall Kerley, Christopher Kerley; sister Josephine Swikard; brother Arthur Clancy Jr.; sister-in-law Charlotte Ryall; and four great-grandchildren
