Janice L. Gilbert, 91, of Eaton, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 at her residence.
She was born July 22, 1925, in Eaton, to the late John Albert and Ruth (Kesling) Renner. She was a graduate of Eaton High School, was a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir for many years, was a member of the Senior Chorus singing at the Ohio State Fair and was also a member of the local community choir. She retired after 26 years of employment from the Parker-Hannifin Corporation Human Resources Department. She then worked for 10 years as a legal assistant for the Will Mawer Attorney office and she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #215, Eaton.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Donald Ray Gilbert, who passed away in 1977; sister Rachael MacIntosh and brother Jack Renner.
She is survived by her daughter Susan J. (Gary) Coats of Hilliard; son Jeffrey A. Gilbert of Eaton; grandchildren Derek Coats of Hilliard, Jessie (Bryan) Collins of Columbus, Rachael (Brian) Sawesky of Eaton and Stacey (Matt) Grilliot of Eaton; great-grandchildren Brylie, Kahlen and Colten Collins and four step-great-grandchildren; brothers Richard and Phillip Renner; sister Dorothy Campbell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Eaton United Church of Christ, 113 W. Decatur Street, Eaton, with Rev. Roger Stine officiating. Burial will be in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria. Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton.
