Philip Bruce Young was the second of four children born of the marriage of Charles Henry Young, Jr and Mary (Yates)Young. He married in 1964 and had a daughter several years later. Their marriage ended in 1981, and in the late 1980's Phil moved to Florida. He would remarry in 1995 to a woman who expressed that, "he made her the happiest woman in the world."

Phil was a veteran of Vietnam. He learned Russian and Lingala at the Presidio Army Language School in Monterey, completed the Jungle Operations Course at the USA Army School of the Americas in Panama, completed his USA lnfantry School Airborne Course, and graduated from the Army Security Agency School. serving in the 403d 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces and 403d 7th USASA Special Operations Det. (Abn). He was a three time Purple Heart recipient.

After Vietnam, Philip was a high-rise inspector for Los Angeles, with ISO; he raised race-horses and had a pet-store; he restored old Jaguar cars. He was also a deputy sheriff with the Sacramento Police Force. Philip is a life member of the VFW, who loved stamp collecting, travelling to England, and cars, cars, cars. He loved his Mustang GT.

Phil's death ended a decades-long battle with injuries and illnesses, mostly related to his Vietnam service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles and his sister, Debbie Muren. He is survived by his mother, Mary, of Medford, Oregon, his daughter, one sister and his only brother.

We have lost a true hero, a loving family man and a good friend to many. He will be sorely missed ... but what a life he led!
