Lewis Gutwein, aged 25, died late Tuesday night at the asylum in Logansport, where he was taken from his home southwest of Francesville two months ago. The cause of his death was a general nervous break-down which attacked him about six months ago. The first symptoms became apparent when he began to worry over the condition of his crops which had been seriously damaged by the weather, and other small matters to such an extent that the eventually became mentally deranged. Tuesday his relatives here were notified that he was sinking and they were with him when he passed away. The body was brought here yesterday morning and the funeral is to be held Friday afternoon at the Christian Apostolic church in the west part of town. Burial is to be made in the cemetery east of Francesville.
Lewis Gutwein was a young man possessed of a very pleasant personality, a happy jovial fellow whom it was a pleasure to meet, and of an excellent family. He had many friends in the community who join his relatives in their deepest sorrow of one who has been taken at a time when his young manhood began to take on the real responsibilities of life. Six years ago he was married to Miss Kathryn Munz of Fairbury, Illinois, to which union three children were born. Besides these he leaves to mourn his parents, brothers and sisters.
