Darlene attended high school in San Andreas where she married her high school sweetheart Edwin Rosco Hayes. Together they ranched in Burson, California, until they moved with Calaveras Cement Company to Redding in 1965.
As a longtime resident of the Twin View area in Redding, she became a legal secretary of KCLM radio station and last for the Shasta Trinity Credit Union. She was involved in rodeo, bowling leagues (in which qualified for nationals many times on the Casablanca team), and biggest joy of life was making a home for her family, pets and plants. As Darlene entered into her senior years she enjoyed CB radio, Genealogy, her IPad and all her Facebook friends. She enjoyed life until the end at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Keith Knapp, and her husband Ed of 56 years.
She is survived by her son John Knapp Hayes (Sharon), granddaughters Ashley J Michael (Mark), and Maggie M Hayes. She leaves behind dear cousins Darryl White, Sunnie Quarton, and many nieces and nephews.
