He was born February 9, 1926, at Oak Park, Illinois, the son of Ralph H. and Verna (Hughes) Barger.
He was a graduate of Glenbard High School at Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Jason in the Pacific Theater. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He served as Grand Master of Mason Lodge in Rogers.
He sang in the choir of the Presbyterian Church for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jane Barger; two sons, Robert (Debra), and Richard (Pamela); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Portia.
A Celebration of his Life will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Rogers. Honors provided by Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard.
