John Calvin Sisco, 81, of 1304 Second street, Rock Island, a retired carpenter, died at 12:40 o'clock this morning in his home. He had been ailing of heart trouble and infirmities of age since the start of summer. Mr. Sisco was born in Austintown, Ohio, June 4, 1858, a son of the late Frank and Kathryn Sisco. He was reared and educated in that community. He moved to Rock Island 45 years ago and had lived in this city since with the exception to several years spent in Eliza, Ill. He married Hester Shotwell in Muscatine, Iowa, Oct. 4, 1898. Mr. Sisco retired from carpentry work about ten years ago. He was a member of camp 309, Modern Woodmen of America, and Carpenters' Union No. 166. Surviving are the widow; three sons, Ralph C., Clarence C., and Clifford Sisco, and three daughters, Mesdames George Nelson, John F. Baumann and William Parr, all of Rock Island; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John Johnson of Rock Island and Mrs. Effie McDevitt of Denver, Colo.; two stepsons, Samuel Shotwell of Eliza, Ill., and Everett, Shotwell of Tipton, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A son died in infancy and three brothers and a sister also preceded him in death. The body was taken to the Knox mortuary, where funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Rev. Frederick J. Rolf, pastor of Evangelical Church of Peace, will officiate, and burial will be in Chippiannock cemetery.
